Meet the Orphans Supported by Rona

Jack

Jack

Jack is 9yrs old, with 4 other siblings. This is the child that made me close my business and start the Centre. Janes Andiengo, Jack’s father was my half brother, he had been battling sickness (HIV) and later got blind, when he became bed ridden and helpless, with a wife and 5 children, his wife Emily decided to give Jack to a relative living in the Islands. News later reached the blind Janes that his son had been burnt from cooking oil by the woman; as I fought to save his life, his only plea to me was to never allow any of his children or other orphans be given away, I went to rescue Jack and brought him home before his father passed, he couldn’t see the scars but I saw it for him and my life changed to date.

Bai

12yr old Bai is active. Loves football and always reminds me of a model look. His mother died 7yrs ago, living Bai, Ruth and Mercy with their old grandmother. Their Father became an ‘inheritor’ and is only seen when he is seen. Bai, just like many children in the village, without support and care turn to be bread winners to provide for the other siblings and the aging grand mother. For him, and many like him, the feeding program is a much needed relief

Amaggy

9yr old Margaret fondly known as Amaggy was born abled differently, with no speech and full hearing, her abilities have continued to shine at Rona. 2 yrs ago she chased me away with stones and beat other children when attempted to play with her. Her mother sent to her as a parcel to Wagoma with her clothes in carton labeled with her caregiver’s name. Rona is seeking a sponsor to send her to a special school to join Synthia, 11 yrs old,  her sister who was later found abandoned at the local market and now studying at Nyangoma School for the deaf.

Brenda

Orphan Brenda

7yr old  Brenda is a partial orphan who has never known peace, skin disease and threats has been her life. Her father died when she was only 1 yr old. Her mother was taken by inheritor as the custom demands and established her own home with him; she has never known peace, beatings and orphan abuse has been her life, with her other 4 siblings; battling with an inheritor the last 2 yrs. Sometimes they are thrown to sleep in the cold, and currently Brenda lives at the Rona Centre with her brothers.
